Implementing a Pull Process Throughout the Entire Value Stream
Presenter: Jason Carter and Jim McKinney
Some companies today use MRP and customer purchase orders to drive their supply chain. This creates excess inventory and muda (waste). Other companies utilize some form of a pull system. We will show you the system we developed starting with internal processes and then extending both downstream to customers and upstream to suppliers with replenishment based on consumption. This has eliminated or reduced the need for forecasting. Inventory and other waste have been driven out of the entire supply chain.
Jason Carter is a Lean Practitioner who has had the privilege to have worked extensively with Shingijutsu Global Consulting and other consulting groups. His current role is Director of Logistics and Pull Systems for a contract manufacturing firm. Jason has implemented pull systems across the industry and continues to consult throughout North America, Europe and Japan. Jason specializes in Lean transformations and he has a particular passion for Kaizen. Jason’s education is in Business Management.
Jim McKinney is a Lean Practitioner who has also worked extensively with Shigijutsu and with Moffat & Associates. His current role is Senior Manager of Assets and Inventory for a medical device manufacturer. Jim also consults across the industry. Jim's passion is Continuous Improvement and educating others about Lean tools. Jim’s education is in Business Administration.
